Hahnemühle celebrates their 425th

(And now for something not Pentax)
Woodstock, IL September 17, 2009 On August 22, 2009, Hahnemühle Fine Arts (GmbH) celebrated 425 years of papermaking for the fine arts at the company's headquarters in Dassel, Germany - less than 250 yards from the site of the company's original paper mill. The party was attended by 280 employees and their families from the USA, the UK, Germany, Spain and France.

Since its founding on February 27, 1584 in Dassel, Germany, Hahnemühle has been dedicated to creating uniquely beautiful fine art papers in the traditional way, in the same location, using pure spring water and premium quality cellulose. Combining this century old craftsmanship with a keen appreciation of the arts, Hahnemühle papers have become the number one choice of demanding painters, graphic artists, illustrators, bookbinders and photographers in more than eighty countries worldwide. Very few other companies in the world today can look back with pride over such a long, rich history!

With the closing lines of his welcoming speech, Hahnemühle Managing Director, Jörg Adomat summed up his projections for the company's future:

"I am convinced that future speakers will have the same opportunity that I have today to address audiences of future employees, right here, on the occasions of our 450th and 500th anniversaries if, we keep on doing what we do better than anyone, or anything, else: producing top-class paper."
