Mastering On-Location Flash Techniques Mid Atlantic Photo Workshop

 

Photographers throughout the Mid- Atlantic region will be gathering in early October for a fun-filled afternoon Photo Workshop, at the beautiful and famed Inner Harbor in Baltimore, MD. Entitled “Mastering On-Location Flash Techniques (in the Sprit of the Strobist)”, this first offered Workshop will be conducted by professional photographers Brendan Cavanaugh and Leo Heppner. From  2-6PM on Sunday, October 7th (Rain Date: Sunday, October 14th), Brendan and Leo will be giving instructions on how to create compelling images of people (models, portraits and weddings) and products (still lifes, cars, etc), using flash on-location, and their participants will be photographing several professional live models that will be on-hand. Through technical instruction and practical advice, Brendan and Leo will cover Digital SLR camera settings and photography; creative composition; posing and lighting techniques; flash settings and the use of flash attachments and accessories. Participants should bring their Digital SLR camera and gadget bag with plenty of memory cards and batteries for lots of shooting.

The New Nikon UT-1 Offers D-SLR Users Powerful Connectivity for an Efficient Workflow

Nikon Continues to Develop and Redefine How Photographers of All Levels Share Their Content

MELVILLE, N.Y. – Today, Nikon Inc. has announced the release of the new UT-1 adapter, enabling image transfer and remote camera operation when connected via Ethernet cable or wirelessly with in conjunction with the WT-5a wireless transmitter.  When the UT-1 is connected to a Nikon D-SLR camera, an Ethernet network (wired network) can be used to transfer images directly from the camera to a computer or FTP server. The new device will also allow photographers to control the camera remotely from a computer.
The new UT-1 will be compatible with several Nikon D-SLR cameras, including the Nikon D4, Nikon D800, Nikon D800E as well as the Nikon D7000. With an Ethernet network connection, images can  be automatically transferred as they are captured, while data can also be stored on a memory card or can be transferred and saved to a computer or FTP server.

PENTAX Introduces New K-5 II & K-5 IIs DSLR Cameras

Denver, CO (September 10, 2012) – PENTAX RICOH IMAGING AMERICAS CORPORATION (PENTAX)  today announced the introduction of its PENTAX K-5 II and K-5 IIs flagship digital SLR cameras, designed to advance the company’s well-received K-5 camera, which launched in October 2010. These new dustproof, weather-resistant and cold-resistant cameras include a newly developed SAFOX X AF sensor that delivers the broadest autofocusing EV range (-3 EV to +18 EV) in its class. In addition, the PENTAX K-5 IIs is offered without an anti-aliasing filter, making it the perfect solution for photographers who practice commercial and studio photography where camera settings, lens selection, lighting, and other shooting conditions are controlled.

The new PENTAX K-5 II / K-5 IIs offer a compact, solid body that delivers high quality image reproduction, especially when working in low light conditions. The camera’s new, highly sensitive AF sensor enables photographers to work with a luminous flux based on F2.8 levels in addition to F5.6, which increases the AF accuracy when using fast lenses. The AF sensor also includes an upgraded AF algorithm as well as the Select-Area Expansion feature, which automatically tracks the subject when it deviates from a pre-assigned selection point, by assessing data from neighboring sensors.
