Normally I am not that big of a fan of pre-made kits but Olympus has really done their homework and this setup is perfect 4 a new photographer or someone looking for a compact rig on the go whether it be for travel family events it fits in a pocket of a jacket it's lightweight comes with a good lens a decent bag and even a 16 gigabyte memory card that Speedy enough to take care of most needs.
Right out of the box I was able to get to shooting in various modes including my favorite black and white film grain that they have it's just like Triax and very rarely do I ever need to post process these photos except for maybe a touch of dodging and burning. Do standard modes of neutral Vivid in portrait coloring do a good job and should be satisfactory to most people's tastes the specialty filters like the black and white mode I just talked about are all good in their own right especially if you like shooting with in camera filters. Typically I do not use these but I must say Olympus has really done their homework and have gotten filters that are usable and fun but like I said before my favorite is that black and white film grain mode.
This kit is a great value at about $700 the camera is Speedy lightweight good focusing accurate exposure is decent especially if you know how to use exposure compensation and the built-in shooting modes are good for the beginner photographer. I have use this camera now in low light bright light daylight Darkness capturing some fast action wedding and street photography and it has handled them all very well. Is it not going to be as good as say a top-end pro level Nikon, Canon, or Sony body maybe, but for the average person this is one powerful camera even though it is not targeted at be professional Market. I do think though professionals looking for a small camera to complement their existing larger maybe full frame rigs should look at this because of its size and capability, for when they want something more discreet or just smaller and lighter and they don't need all of the Power those larger cameras give to them.
Still working on a full review of this but I must say it is a great camera to consider especially right now for Christmas time if you're looking for a gift for the photographer or aspiring photographer in the family.
