Curious Critters by Sigma Pro David FitzSimmons is a Photographic Delight

Sigma Pro photographer David FitzSimmons has recently published a photographic wonder aimed at children ages 4-8. Curious Critters features stunning animal photography with humorous prose, as well as useful facts about the various critters featured in it's pages.

Shot entirely with Sigma lenses, the images on these pages will interest and delight both children and adults with their brilliance and beauty. On the website dedicated to the book (www.curious-critters.com) David provides information on the equipment used for each shot and a general discussion of lighting and staging techniques used throughout the book.

The photography isn't the only great part of this book. The witty prose, spoken from the viewpoint of the featured critter, will entertain all ages. The material in the back of the book contains a brief natural history for each featured animal, a life-sized silhouette challenge game with answers, and a glossary.

New Canon Idea Mine – a free iOS app

Carbone Smolan Agency (CSA) to Extend the Power of the Canon Brand
with Inspirational New Photography App

App Revealed Today at CSA-Led Workshop at PDN PhotoPlus International Conference
NEW YORK – October 28, 2011 – Carbone Smolan Agency (CSA) www.carbonesmolan.com, a leading brand strategy and creative design firm, today announced Canon Idea Mine – a free iOS app designed for Canon by CSA that serves as an idea-provoking tool for photographers.  Attendees at the PDN PhotoPlus International Conference + Expo previewed the app during CSA’s photography workflow session this morning.

“Most photographers have never been challenged to take a photo of mischievous crayons. With Canon Idea Mine, they could be,” said Paul Pierson, CSA partner and design director. “By incorporating just the right amount of randomness, CSA’s goal was to help photographers evolve and expand their ideas. If you’re stuck, the app can generate billions of unique image concepts from scratch in just two taps. We think this tool will help today’s photographers, who are now expected to conceive ideas, not just execute. It’s a serious tool in a fun and distinctive package.”

Delkin Announces the Lightest Weight Action Camera in the World and Adds Real Time LCD Playback and Review

Poway, CA. October 27th, 2011Today Delkin launches the WingmanHD Waterproof 3 Ounce Action Camera, a compact POV camera that shoots 1080p high definition video from the users perspective while mounted to almost any object or surface.   In addition to becoming the lightest weight action camera in the world, Delkin adds key features such as a 1.5 inch LCD screen, 3x digital zoom and a universal mounting system to allow seamless integration with existing photo and video equipment.

“With the division between photography and videography fading, more photographers are becoming their own directors, videographers and producers,” explains Marketing Manager, Anna Lopez.  “Incorporating a “point of view” perspective into film adds a connection for viewers, whether it’s from a person, racecar, surfboard, airplane or the top of a building.  A rugged design with a lightweight build and a universal ¼-20” photography mount allows users to capture realistic footage of impending jumps, rapids and free falls without any extra weight or interference, particularly in extreme environments or activities.”
